Cranbrook, known as the ‘Capital of the Weald’, dates back to medieval times and combines a fine collection of historic buildings with interesting speciality shops, pubs and restaurants. Surrounding the market town is an area of outstanding natural beauty, an area of warmth and clarity whose historical buildings, open skies, rolling grasslands, sunken lanes and captivating villages make it a remarkable English landscape. Activities in the Seven Wonders of the Weald

Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest is a great place where you can play a family game of hide and seek amongst the 7,000 conifers, the largest single collection in the world and participate in many activities from cycling to GoApe. The evocative ruins of Bodiam Castle provide a picturesque setting for a picnic with the family and a chance to learn about medieval history. The ruins are easily accessible by the Kent & East Sussex Railway, which connect Bodiam to Tenterden by a light railway where restored steam and diesel trains operate. The antique collections of Chiddingstone Castle are a fine example of the mysterious Japanese Samurai culture and ancient Egyptian relics and should be viewed by all. Marle Place Gardens, amongst the most enchanting in Kent, features a range of themed garden rooms, including Edwardian, Elizabethan and Italianate plants. For family days out The Hop Farm offers a variety of activity for children of all ages. The wonderful gardens at Merriments Gardens offer an array of beautiful and exotic plants with a nursery where these can be bought. Lastly, is the wonder of the Weald itself the ideal setting for walks, bike rides, watching wildlife or indulging in landscape photography and paintings.
